With cold temperatures and plenty of snow outside, I think we’ve all been longing for some greenery – and that is what we found on our Farm to School bulletin board this past month! Students were able to check out an aerial view of Tunbridge (complete with green trees and grass!) that highlights just how much farmland we have in our small town, as well as where our waterways are all located. And right down the hall, we move from scenery to hatchery. Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Hook will be incubating and candling chicken and duck eggs very soon in their 1st- and 2nd-grade classrooms. And with spring on their minds, many teachers are making plans for starting seeds in their classrooms, as well as strategizing where to plant a new asparagus bed once the snow all melts. Here’s to warmer weather! – Jen Thygesen, Farm to School Coordinator, Tunbridge Central School, Tunbridge, VT
