It’s a great day to explore ways of getting around the Upper Valley that don’t rely on driving solo! These events (and more to come) are being planned by our partners to launch our new joint initiative, Upper Valley Ways To Go!

All who are getting around this day by bike, foot, bus, carpool, or other “active” means (scooters? skateboards? oh, yeah!) are invited to these events:

Bike a Car-Free Route in Hanover!

The Town of Hanover will be setting up a temporary divided bike lane on Lebanon Street north of Greensboro Road for the whole day. Take the opportunity to drive a bike commute!

Try out one or more types of e-bikes to see which might be a good fit for you, to reduce your reliance on driving solo! Enjoy treats as we celebrate the grand opening of the 2024 Upper Valley E-Bike Lending Library!

The Library — a program of Vital Communities, the Kilton Public Library, and many, many volunteers — is a selection of four e-bikes of assorted styles and retail costs. It offers participants the chance to try various e-bike models to get a feel for how an e-bike might fit into their lifestyle. Since the Library began in 2020, more than 65% of the borrowers who responded to surveys said they have already bought an e-bike or are planning on buying one. The Library travels between various Upper Valley towns, typically staying a week at each. While the e-bike library is stationed at a particular lending location, people can sign up to borrow one of the e-bikes for 1-3 days. Learn more at vitalcommunities.org/uvell
