Here in Newbury we’re getting underway with our implementation grant by taking a close look at the costs of running our salad bar so that it can be compared with when we start partnering with local farmers to stock the bar in the upcoming weeks and into the fall of next year. Additionally, we have a special “Gritty Gardeners” incentive program, honoring students in all multiage classes who are showing not only grit, but positive work habits and respect for their classmates and teachers by giving them some special time in the gardens. Finally, various classes are having fun with taste tests. Most recently, our kindergarten has made a special Cinco de Mayo salsa to share and enjoy.
