In addition to the normal late fall activities of taste-testing blue Hubbard squash and putting gardens to bed, we have also had productive planning time. Our committee met to review our fall successes and make an action plan for two farm to school goals: waste reduction and fundraising/ community involvement. Next week, we will sort through the school compost bins to see how much food is truly waste, and how much is actually wasted food. On December 6, we will have a table at the holiday craft fair to sell items and display our program. We are grateful for the ways in which the Farm to School Institute has helped our program be more organized! – Kate Reimanis, Newton School, Strafford, VT
