TCS grades 3 and 4 helped dig an enormous pile of potatoes at Chapman Family Farm in early October. A portion of this harvest is being enjoyed in the baked potato bar in the school’s cafeteria. October 29th was a busy day: grades K, 1 and 2 learned about pumpkins and squash in a visit to Billings Farm, and grades 3 and 4 made homemade bread and utilized beans harvested from their garden to make a vegetable bean soup they enjoyed for lunch. This fall on the school lunch menu students are enjoying “Sloppy Farmer Joes” and “Taco Tuesdays” with local beef and pork from Back Beyond Farm, and French toast with maple syrup from the Bogardus family. – Jen Thygesen, Tunbridge Central School, Tunbridge, VT
