Self-guided mini-tours that build our appreciation of our region
We envision an Upper Valley where residents experience a strong connection to their community by learning more about the geographies, histories, cultures, economies, diverse peoples, and ecologies of the region through a variety of Valley Quests.
Vital Communities maintains a curated and diverse collection of Valley Quests and related activities throughout the Upper Valley. These Quests deepen participants’ understanding of and connection to the places where they live, work, play, shop, and visit in the Upper Valley. Quests can help people to see landscapes and communities through different lenses and perspectives. Valley Quests are designed to be inclusive, welcoming, and accessible exploratory journeys, self-guided by clues and directions, in the built, natural, working, and wild landscapes of this region.
With the exception of Quests open through winter, Valley Quest season is May 30 to November 15.
Due to the large number of Quests and recent volunteer box monitor “retirements,” some Quest treasure boxes will be placed later than usual this year. We plan to have all boxes out by the end of June. Those Quests that are affected are marked with an asterisk (*) in the title of the Quest on our webpage. Remember, these Quests are still open and ready for you to take! If you prefer to wait until the box is out for a specific Quest, look for another one that doesn’t have an asterisk next to the title. Staff will update the information on the website as boxes are placed.
