A close look at the natural history of a scenic hilltop — with views of two states.

Get off I-91 at Exit 14. This is the Lyme/Thetford exit. Got toward Thetford. At the top of the hill, take a right onto Houghton Hill Road. Continue 1.5 miles on this road until you see a small pond on the left. Shortly there will be a small, rocky pull-off on the right, across from a "No Hunting" sign. The pull-off has room for only 1 or 2 cars. The trail begins on the opposite side of the road.

Update to this Quest

The trail head is unmarked and can be confusing. It is 1 1/2 miles from the beginning of Houghton Hill Road. Our awesome Quest Testers, George and Nancy Smith, placed some lime green survey tape out to help mark the trail. September 2013.

The box has been relocated to near the summit rock due to overgrown grass and brambles. (August 2019)
