Andrew joined Vital Communities in July of 2022 as a Project Manager in Place-Based Education, including heading the Farm to School program. Prior to joining Vital Communities, Andrew taught Environmental Science for five years at Conserve School in northern Wisconsin. While there, he developed a place-based AP Environmental Science curriculum connecting students with the forests, lakes, and wildlife of the northwoods. Most recently, while teaching Environmental Studies at Kents Hill School in Readfield, Maine, Andrew worked with students to establish a community garden, conduct forestry research in partnership with the Maine Forest Service, and perform water quality studies on the campus lakes. Andrew grew up in the Upper Valley, and loves to explore the region through silent sports such as canoeing, swimming, hiking, biking, and skiing. “Place-based education provides students with the tools and resources to not only discover the environmental and cultural wealth around them, but to also become agents of change for a sustainable future in their own communities.”
