The retired owner and innkeeper of the Applebutter Inn, Taftsville VT; Barbara also served as director of Special Education, Manhasset, NY, school district. She is a founding member and former chair of the Sustainable Woodstock Board; a volunteer organizer and developer of East End Park (Woodstock, VT); a founding member of the Woodstock Energy Group; and a volunteer trail ambassador for Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Park. She joined the Vital Communities board in 2018 and is a member of the Long-Range Planning Committee. She wanted to be on the Vital Communities Board initially because of its role in protecting the environment and encouraging the use of alternative energy publicly and privately. She loves that Vital Communities brings to Upper Valley towns new, practical initiatives and equitable solutions, such as Solarize and Weatherize. “I love being on the Vital Communities Board because Vital Communities gets things done! It’s at the forefront of identifying and addressing present and future issues of the Upper Valley.”
