Red Wagon Bakery prides itself on being both an integral part of the Canaan zeitgeist, while also drawing from exotic and far-reaching inspirations, culminating in culinary exploration and innovative appeal. When Nellie set out to open a bakery and restaurant in Canaan, she was not daunted by the small town atmosphere. She sought to bring to Canaan her love of the unusual, her experiences living in New York City, her travels to some of the most exciting bakeries in Europe, and her delight in all things cozy and zany. Red Wagon Bakery is the dissection of those endeavors and experiences. Together with her mother, Nellie has watched RWB flourish over the past 18 months; each passing day introducing a patron or two to something new and different. Tradition is paramount at RWB…Nellie is no stranger to honoring the heritage of Canaan, having called it a home for the past 30 years. However, it is the belief and mission of this little bakery to break its patrons out of old habits and make way for progress and originality…while holding onto some normalcy too. F-Sun 8am-2pm
