Overview
The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) helps folks with low incomes save on their energy bills by making your home more energy-efficient. Trained professionals will review the problem areas in your home and come up with the most cost-effective steps that can be taken to reduce heat loss and energy costs, ensure safety, and increase comfort. These energy efficiency improvements are free of charge and might include adding insulation to your walls, attic, basement, or crawl space, sealing cracks where drafts come, or even patching small holes. While actual savings is different for each home, most people end up saving $400-$700 a year! The improvements will keep your home warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer!

How to Apply:
The Weatherization Assistance Program does the same thing in both Vermont and New Hampshire: reduces your energy costs by making your home more energy-efficient. But the application process is a little different in each state. For folks in Vermont, you can find information just below under the Apply in Vermont heading. New Hampshire folks, be sure to scroll down to where you see Apply in New Hampshire, or you can click the anchor icon below to skip down to Apply in New Hampshire.
Applications in both Vermont and New Hampshire are prioritized based on need. Households that include elderly or disabled folks, small children, and households that have high energy costs will have their projects done before others. But don’t be discouraged if you are placed on a waiting list, free weatherization is well worth the wait!
