Some people who can’t afford to buy real estate individually are interested in purchasing it collaboratively with others to whom they are not related. It is important to create a model where all the co-purchasers are equitably protected, but developing a legal structure can be complicated. This webinar looked at resident-owned cooperatives, LLCs as a tool for collective ownership or gradual transfer of property, and the experience of collaboratively purchasing real estate without a specific legal structure in place.
This webinar featured guest speakers:
-
Shane Rogers, community organizer and communication director for Food Solutions New England
-
Sawna Caradwyn, Willow Permanent Real Estate Co-Op
-
Julia Curry, Vermont Real Estate Cooperative and Cooperative Development Institute
-
Randy Amis, Esq, speaking about his experience working on collaborative ownership structures
