Marion Cross Elementary students in Norwich dedicated their fall harvest to soup ingredients for the “Giving Bowls” fundraising event that was held in October. All proceeds from the event went to “Willing Hands” in support of their efforts to provide fresh local food to those in need. kindergarten through sixth grade harvested, scrubbed, peeled, and shelled for a delicious Harvest Soup. In addition, Kindergarten classes stepped out to bigger gardens and orchards, harvesting apples and pumpkins at Riverview Farm. They made applesauce, practiced counting money at their popular “apple store”, and did a lot of pumpkin math and science investigations.
