Woodstock’s Farm to School program had great success running a pie-raffle during parent-teacher conferences this year! Tons of faculty members offered their time and talent to bake pies that we raffled off to a captive audience of parents. The funds will support our Summer 2015 Garden Interns. Students from the Woodstock Union High School’s Earth Beat club presented about our newly implemented composting system on campus at the state-wide Youth Environmental Summit in Barre on November 6. They did a great job articulating the steps of the design and build process all the way through to our current Food Scrap Fridays initiative! We’re getting ready for Act 148 to roll out and are excited to be creating a closed-loop system on campus that will allow us to produce our own compost to provide nutrition for crops we’re growing for the school cafeteria. – Kat Robbins, Woodstock Union High School and Middle School, Woodstock, VT
